Years ago, I heard of this uppity new start-up radio station called Air America. I heard Al Franken was going to be on it so I sought it out in my San Francisco Bay Area radio market. I listened to it in my car. I streamed it to my computer during the day. On it were Randi Rhodes, Thom Hartmann, Al Franken, and someone I had never heard of before but quickly became my favorite, Rachel Maddow.
I liked Rachel’s approach to the news of the day. She wasn’t a journalist as much as she was a story teller, weaving her encyclopedic knowledge about [everything] into the show. She was quirky, intelligent, funny, and very good at her job. I was more impressed when I later learned she graduated from Stanford and was a Rhodes Scholar. I became a fan.
When she started filling in for Keith Olbermann, I started watching MSNBC more often. And when she got a full time show, I recorded it daily so I could watch it on my own time. That continues to this day.
I am sick and tired of how people of all stripes have turned on her so quickly due to the publication of 3.5 pages of drivel. Barr’s summary document was a political hit job designed to do exactly what it seems to [still] be accomplishing. SQUIRREL! The narrative has been set, Trump is not guilty, nothing to see here, move on, and Rachel got your ire up for 2.5 years and is toast.
And yet, she is persisting. Ultimately, she and her team will be proven right. She has doggedly continued to question to challenge to furrow her brow and claim that nothing is adding up. We are being lied to and there is a massive cover up. I look forward to the apology from her peers, colleagues, competitors…everyone, when Trump and his family business go down. If you have stopped watching her show, I ask that you turn it back on. You will see she doesn’t bow to pressure…she makes her show better.
